Research

I have decided that I want to make my interactive story for children. At first I had my heart set on making one for adults (Particularly my Ghost World idea), but after thinking about it for a while I have decided this is a bad idea. I don't think interactive stories are that suited to adults. When I think about it I would never buy one, I think it would be interesting for all of 30 seconds. Especially when I think about when I read - In bed or on the tube, your not going to be lying in bed or sitting on the tube shaking around an ipad wanting it to move around in some way or another?!

So children it is! iPads are amazing ways of keeping children occupied.

Today I went to my local library and scoured the children's section for hours! It helped A LOT, although I managed to change my mind of what story I wanted to do all of 30 times. I gained lots of inspiration in there, there are some amazing illustrators for kids books. It also really helped seeing all the different variations there are for the same stories.

After this I went up to the Museum of Childhood (Part of the V & A) This is completely FULL of childrens toys, books and games. I wandered round here for ages, looking at all the different possibilities. Also the bookshop was really helpful. I took lots of pictures to remember everything I really liked:

I have decided from my research that I want an almost scrapbook type feel to my story... Very mismatch with different textures and cut outs. I think this will make it very interesting for kids with a real feel for real life textures etc...
