Evaluation

I believe I have succeeded in designing an interactive story for iPad. I'm glad I went on the kids route rather than adults in the end. I really like the 'scrapbook' style I have created and think that my target age group would really appreciate this mis-match style. I have put a lot of work into the artwork for this project and I think it has paid off, I think it is original and stands out from other kids iPad books on the market, its something a bit different. I agreed with most comments that came up in crit and have changed these elements for the better.

Changes...

I have changed the cover (homepage) to show a lot more 'scrapbook' elements. I have included the default characters and various 'cut out' elements from the story itself. This gives the viewer more of a feel of whats inside without showing to much of an actual layout... I have changed the text on all pages to a larger size. I have made a settings button rather than a homepage button, this will give the viewer a chance to go to the homepage too.
I have changed the artwork so that the characters stand out from the backgrounds, I have changed the opacities and colours on various layers to play around with the depth of field.

I have added something behind the sweet house rather than keeping it just white. I have added elements from inside the house that appear later in the story so the viewer gets hints of whats to come...
I've changed the 'cleaning' page to clean up the mess and leave the house behind it rather than be plain white.

CRIT

Feedback from showing my storyboards in crit...

  • Change the cover - Why are the items all at the bottom? Make more interesting by maybe adding the characters to the cover?
  • Make the font bigger on all pages of the story
  • Change the opacity in various layers in the artwork to make the characters stand out
  • Make the prompts more apparent - Even by changing the font to something other than what the story text is written in
  • Access settings from every page - No need for a home button - Maybe just a settings tab?
  • See inside the house as the sweets disappear - Maybe the witch inside or something?
  • Cleaning page - Change the white to a clean version of the house?
  • Add more movement? Maybe animate some scenes with no interactivity?
